约翰·汤纳·威廉姆斯（John Towner Williams）1932年2月8日出生于美国纽约长岛，钢琴家、指挥家、作曲家、电影配乐家。
约翰·汤纳·威廉姆斯是波士顿交响乐团坦格尔伍德音乐节的驻会艺术家，从20世纪50年代开始参与电影音乐工作，第一部独立完成的作品为《情圣》。1971年以《屋顶上的提琴手》首获奥斯卡奖。1975年，为灾难恐怖片《大白鲨》配乐。1979年末接任美国波士顿流行乐团的指挥职务。1993年为电影《辛德勒名单》配乐。2000年入主好莱坞露天剧场名人堂，2004年获颁肯尼迪中心荣誉奖。2009年，美国总统奥巴马在白宫授予约翰国家艺术奖章。2012年为《林肯传》谱曲。
截至2014年2月，约翰·汤纳·威廉姆斯共获得49次奥斯卡奖提名（包括5次最佳歌曲提名和44次最佳配乐提名）、5次获奖，18次格莱美奖提名，4次金球奖，7项英国学院奖。

Simone Pedroni is a brilliant classical pianist and former Van Cliburn Award-Gold Medal winner, while John Williams is the most celebrated film composer of our time. Williams and Pedroni each transcribed about half of material on this album, which premieres Williams' own piano suites from 'Lincoln', and 'The Book Thief', plus Pedroni's own special transcriptions of music from 'Harry Potter', 'Star Wars', 'Schindler's List' and more. The album is a stunning and unique presentation of John Williams' film music, without the usual symphony orchestra, and includes 80 minutes of music.
